About Sherryl Clark
I’ve been writing for more than 30 years, and teaching creative writing for 20 of those years. I currently have more than 60 books published, including 55 children’s and YA titles, and I’ve helped many more writers towards publication. Nothing makes me prouder and happier than to see one of my students achieve a lifelong dream and see their first book in print.
I currently teach Professional Writing & Editing subjects at Victoria University TAFE in Melbourne, Australia. I’ve taught fiction writing, poetry, writing for children and young adults, nonfiction writing, industry knowledge, self publishing, myths and symbols and editing. But I believe there is always more to learn – this is what keeps me writing and teaching, as well as reading and studying. In July 2013 I graduated from the MFA in Writing for Children and YA at Hamline University in Minneapolis/St Paul. When I’m asked why I would study an MFA after writing and publishing for so many years, my answer is, “Because I want to keep growing as a writer.”
I also teach writing and professional development classes around Australia, and in Hong Kong. I’ve spoken at conferences and festivals around Australia, and at the Pima Writers’ Workshop in Arizona. I work with other writers as both an editor and a mentor, and my writing coach website is here.
I love the craft of writing and the challenge of making the next piece even better than the last. Like many writers, I suffer from procrastination! My ebooks are designed to make you a better writer, and to get published – as long as you’re prepared to do the work. That’s why many of my ebooks are called Tough Guides.
Whether you are a new writer finding your way and building your skills, or a published writer who feels the need to deepen your craft and knowledge, or challenge yourself to new heights, please feel free to contact me for advice and perhaps some editing or mentoring help.
